POEM AND SONG BY JOHNNIE CLAIRE WHITE WHITLOW
I chose to set this poem below to the music and song by my Mother's cousin, Merle Haggard, " Aging With Time Like Yesterday's Wine." Turn up your speakers. The last few years of her life, Momma traveled with me on smoke school trips across the nation including one trip to Niagara Falls. Momma was the only person who ever thought that I sang good. I put in all of Merle and Hank JR tapes and we sang them all to the tops of our voices. We knew all of the right words. I sure hope I make it to Heaven and see my momma and daddy again. Not a day goes by that I don't think about them and miss them.

Smoke school weather. My memories of my childhood. The deer hunting camp. Campfires, Uncle Hip. The reason I conduct smoke schools. Turn your speaker up loud. It might rain.
