This school will be held on property that is not actually behind the gates of the plant. We will actually be behind the plant off County Road 12 in the Spray Irrigation area. Follow the black and fluorescent orange smoke school signs that will start both on County Road 12 and at the main gate for the plant. It is not necessary to bring your hard hat, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes. We are not in the actual working part of the plant. This location has a shelter for rain or snow.
The Whitlow team includes 4 retired Louisiana DEQ employees and other team members dedicated to routine maintenance, quality control, and customer service. With over 100 years combined experience in environmental protection and smoke school we are the experts. We calibrate our equipment electronically and visually with the human eye before, during, and after each smoke school. We check the zero drift before and during each test run. If the zero is off, everything is off. We take our time giving the test so you can keep up. We give precise instructions on how to take the test. If you pay close attention and bring a positive attitude, you will pass sooner than later. If you are having difficulty please stop the test and ask for assistance. We are prepared to stay at each location until you certify to become a smoke reader. Remember patience and attitude are everything. Be prepared.
We want you to try Whitlow. If you have previously registered for and paid for another upcoming smoke school by another provider, then send in a copy of your receipt along with your registration and you can attend your first Whitlow Smoke School free.
We will provide hot coffee, fresh donuts, ice cold water, soft drinks, and full tasteful lunches at each location. Initially we will choose smoke school dates compatible with previous smoke school providers. Eventually we will provide additional dates in hopes of milder weather. Welcome to Whitlow Smoke School and welcome to customer service. We are a Disabled Veteran owned and family operated small business and we are a member of the Better Business Bureau.
Please pass all of this information to your employees. Thanks for coming.
Attention all contact personnel: Please make sure to relay all of the information about smoke school to your employees. Be sure to include the agenda, driving directions and what to bring. If your employees do not have access to the internet, you should print the information and distribute it to the employees. Otherwise you can simply email the specific links to your employees. I appreciate your cooperation.
The report time for each day is 8 AM. When you register please include the day you want to attend. We should be finished with the field-testing by 11:30 AM each day. If all of your personnel can not attend the 8 AM session, please include this information on your Registration form or Contact us email or phone ahead of time and we will be more than happy to add additional test sessions during the day if needed. Please send all people who need the classroom for the first field session at 8 AM.

Yes, I will again host this
school and order the tent as I usually do, since it has been scheduled for so
long now; I do not want to let you down at the last minute. Nevertheless, now
that we are mothballing our coal boilers, this may be the last smoke school we
host in Napoleon. I wanted to give you plenty of notice on this so you could
find another location for future schools in this area. Just so you are aware, I
may only have about five people for this school of my own personnel, if you
still would like to hold it here. I know you get quite a few outside people that
come in, so I will order the tent.

We do not pay for fees, we do not bill for expenses if we have at least 5 people signed up.
Note to Whitlow Crew. We set up the school at the Big White Tent outside of the plant at the back of the plant. You will need them to bring a fork lift to create a background with a tarp for cloudy days. Bring propane heaters for the tent during the winter. People will sit in the tent to try to stay dry and warm. You will not need to use a generator because they now have electricity there for us.
